Unveiling Nuclear Frontiers: CUET’s Educational Odyssey at Atomic Energy Centre, Chattogram

In response to the gracious request from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), the Atomic Energy Centre, Chattogram (AECC) welcomed a group of Master's students and faculty members on February 5, 2024, for an enlightening seminar aimed at providing practical insights into the field of nuclear engineering.

The seminar, inaugurated by Dr. Shahadat Hossain, the Director of AECC, proved to be an invaluable opportunity for the attendees to delve into various facets of nuclear technology. The event was orchestrated with precision, offering a platform for collaborative learning and knowledge exchange.

Seminar Highlights:

1. Research Activities and Collaboration Opportunities:

Dr. AKM Saiful Islam Bhuian, Principal Scientific Officer at AECC, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ongoing research activities at the center. The session highlighted potential collaboration avenues, fostering an environment for academic and industrial synergy.

2. Electronics in Gamma Ray Spectrometry:

Mr. Manish Debnath, Scientific Officer at AECC, provided an overview of the electronics employed in Gamma Ray Spectrometry systems. His presentation elucidated the intricate details of the technology, offering CUET students a deeper understanding of practical applications.

3. Portable Radiation Detectors for Emergency Situations:

Dr. Sopan Das, Senior Scientific Officer at AECC, shared valuable insights into the theory and practical uses of portable radiation detectors for emergency situations. The presentation equipped the audience with crucial knowledge, emphasizing the role of such detectors in real-world scenarios.

Welcoming CUET Delegation: The Director of AECC, Dr. Shahadat Hossain, expressed his warm welcome to the CUET delegation, acknowledging the importance of such collaborations in fostering the growth of nuclear education and research.
