Exploring Nuclear Science: University of Chittagong Physics Department’s Visit to Atomic Energy Centre, Chattogram

The Atomic Energy Centre, Chattogram (AECC) was honored to host a delegation from the Department of Physics at the University of Chittagong on February 13, 2024, for an enlightening visit to our laboratories. The visit aimed to provide the esteemed guests with practical insights into the cutting-edge research and facilities available at AECC.

Warm Welcome and Presentation: The visit commenced with a warm welcome extended by Dr. Shahadat Hossain, the Director of AECC, who expressed his delight at hosting the delegation. Subsequently, Dr. AKM Saiful Islam Bhuian, Principal Scientific Officer at AECC, delivered a succinct presentation elucidating the center's vision, mission, current facilities, and ongoing research activities. The presentation set the stage for an engaging discussion, allowing for a deeper understanding of AECC's contributions to the field of nuclear science.

Interactive Session and Laboratory Demonstration: The delegation actively participated in a lively discussion following the presentation, exchanging ideas and insights on nuclear research and development. Subsequently, the delegation was led to the Radioactivity Testing and Monitoring Laboratory (RTML) of AECC, where they were provided with a comprehensive demonstration of the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities available. Dr. Sopan Das, Senior Scientific Officer, and Mr. Manish Debnath, Scientific Officer, conducted the demonstration, offering valuable insights into the practical applications of nuclear technology.

Expressions of Gratitude: Prof. Dr. Mohammad Idrish Miah, Head of the delegation from the University of Chittagong Physics Department, concluded the visit with heartfelt remarks expressing gratitude for the hospitality extended by AECC. Dr. Miah commended the center's dedication to advancing nuclear science and technology, acknowledging the invaluable contribution of AECC to academic and scientific endeavors.

Conclusion: The visit proved to be a fruitful exchange of knowledge and expertise, fostering collaboration and mutual learning between the University of Chittagong Physics Department and AECC.
